CoolSculpting for Non Surgical Body Contouring

CoolSculpting is one most popular non invasive body contouring options on the market today, and it’s now available at the Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic. The aptly named CoolSculpting uses the power of cold temperatures to eliminate unwanted areas of fat from just about anywhere on the body.

The unique properties of CoolSculpting make it an excellent option for patients who want to achieve flattering contours but do not wish to undergo surgery or the lengthy recovery time that can be associated with liposuction. For most patients, CoolSculpting is a straightforward process with minimal downtime.

CoolSculpting can help you eliminate stubborn fat from troublesome areas. To find out more, contact the Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic to schedule a consultation at any one of our three Twin Cities locations.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a popular type of fat-freezing, body contouring procedure. The CoolSculpting device, manufactured and distributed by Zeltiq, is one of very few FDA approved, non invasive means to contour your body (Kybella is one of the others).

The CoolSculpting device itself consists of a central machine and multiple handpieces. The number of handpieces employed is determined based on your individual anatomy and needs. Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic employs a “Dual Sculpting” technique, which uses two CoolSculpting machines operating at once in order to produce results in half the time.

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

CoolSculpting procedures take advantage of an interesting fluke in human physiology. Your skin cells, logically, are significantly more resistant to cold than fat cells are. This makes sense, as those same skin cells typically protect your fat cells from exposure.

Who is a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

Candidates for CoolSculpting are usually searching to achieve subtle but noticeable body slimming. The best candidates for CoolSculpting will:

  • Have specific areas of fat that have been resistant to diet and exercise.
  • Wish to appear more slender in specific areas of the body.
  • Understand that it may take several sessions in order to achieve the desired results.
  • Have realistic expectations about what CoolSculpting can achieve.

If you think you’d be a good candidate for CoolSculpting, the process begins with a consultation at Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic. Contact us to make an appointment.

CoolSculpting Procedure

The Procedure and Recovery
CoolSculpting procedures are performed in-suite at Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic. Patients will make an appointment for a 1-4 hour window, and they are usually encouraged to bring a book or tablet to provide entertainment for the duration of the procedure.

During the procedure, a Minneapolis Skin Clinic team member will apply the hand piece to the targeted area. The hand piece has two distinct purposes:

  • Suction: In order to impact the most fat possible, suction is applied to the target area. This pulls fat cells towards the handpiece and ensures even application of the fat-mitigating cold.
  • Cold Temperatures: The cold deployed by the CoolSculpting device not only mitigates any fat cells in the area, but it also numbs the target area for the comfort of the patient.

The entire process can take a few to several hours in order to effectively treat the target zone of fat, but this will depend on the size of the treated area.

The Benefits of CoolSculpting

There are several benefits to CoolSculpting’s approach to body contouring:

  • Patients are able to contour areas of the body without the need for surgery.
  • Patients are awake and aware during the entire procedure; in most cases, anesthetic of any kind is not necessary because of the numbing effect of the cold itself.
  • CoolSculpting is able to target just about anywhere on the body that may be in need of contouring.
  • Patients are usually able to resume normal activities the following day.

Recovery and Results

Most patients are able to return to normal activities after the CoolSculpting procedure has finished, though some time for rest and relaxation is always recommended. Bruising and numbness may persist for several weeks, but isn’t necessarily common for all patients.

Results from CoolSculpting procedures will usually begin to show several weeks after your initial procedure. These results can be subtle at first, but will usually become more pronounced with time, especially when the patient maintains a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

For patients who want to slim down without undergoing liposuction, CoolSculpting presents an effective and popular non invasive body contouring option. If you want to know if CoolSculpting can help you drop a few unwanted pounds, contact our offices today to get started!
