PRP Facial

Sometimes called a "Vampire Facelift," the PRP Facial is a treatment that is intended to enhance your skin's own healing processes in order to improve results from Microneedling or SkinPen treatments.

Introducing the PRP Facial to Minneapolis Skin Clinic

Minneapolis Anti Aging and Skin Clinic now offers PRP facials in the Twin Cities! For those of you who haven’t heard of this amazing new technique, a PRP facial is essentially Microneedling combined with a topical application of platelet-rich-plasma. This combination of approaches can effectively enhance your rejuvenation and results.

A PRP facial is designed to amplify your skin’s own healing response and growth factors in order to generate better results from a SkinPen or Microneedling treatment. This particular treatment goes by several catchy nicknames, including the so-called Vampire Facelift or Vampire Facial. But here at Minneapolis Anti Aging and Skin Clinic, we prefer to call it exactly what it is: a PRP facial.

How Do PRP Facials Work?

To see if a PRP facial would be right for you and your goals, contact one of our locations to schedule a consultation with a specialist. We’ll be able to answer all of your questions and make recommendations based on your skin, your health, and your expected results.

The key element to this type of facial is something called platelet-rich-plasma (PRP for short). This compound is normally found in your body and it is rich with what are called growth factors. These growth factors are specific to you–so the PRP used in your treatment will always come from your own body. On the day of your appointment, a specialist will draw a small amount of blood and then process that blood in order to separate the platelet-rich-plasma.

Combined with Microneedling

The other necessary component of a PRP facial is Mirconeedling. At Minneapolis Skin Clinic, we use a device called SkinPen for all of our Microneedling patients. At its most basic, Microneedling creates a series of superficial abrasions (usually measured in millimeters) over a broad area of skin. Because these abrasions are minimal but widespread, your body’s natural healing mechanisms are triggered. The procedure kind of tricks your body into producing a significant amount of collagen and other potent restorative chemicals.

With only superficial issues to repair, the bulk of your body’s healing processes are used instead to rejuvenate the skin. The end results leave most patients looking a noticeably more youthful. When PRP is added onto the Microneedling procedure, applied topically, patients often notice more profound effects. Together, Microneedling and PRP can diminish fine lines and wrinkles over time, yielding an overall more dramatic transformation.

Am I a Good Candidate for a PRP Facial?

Good candidates for PRP facials are typically looking to take their skin to the next level. Because PRP facials involve Microneedling performed with SkinPen, good candidates will also be familiar with that procedure and what it entails. In general, good candidates for PRP facials will:

  • Be well-hydrated for 24 hours prior to treatment
  • Want to reduce uneven and dull skin tone
  • Be looking for a way to use their own growth factors for skin rejuvenation
  • Have a desire to eliminate or mitigate lines and wrinkles
  • Want to minimize the signs of aging in the face
  • Want to address age spots or color variations in the face
  • Be in generally good health
  • Not currently use tobaccos products, such as cigarettes
  • Not have blood disorders or difficulty drawing blood

PRP facials are designed to help patients look more youthful and energized by helping the skin rejuvenate itself. The actual process is called “cell turnover.” Essentially, the idea is that the newer cells, when activated simultaneously, will lead to a younger looking face. Adding PRP to a SkinPen also reduces redness and irritation by up to 50% on day 2 and beyond.

How Much is a PRP Facial?

A PRP Facial is a $300.00 upgrade to SkinPen procedures.

The procedure is performed in our office at Minneapolis Anti Aging and Skin Clinic. Patients are usually in and out in about an hour. Patients should also be prepared for mild or blotchy redness and possible superficial bruising to persist for a day or two after the procedure due to the Microneedling. However, results should become apparent within several weeks.

PRP Facial Results

Results from PRP facials are usually driven by your body’s own healing mechanisms, which means that your transformation may not be immediately apparent. It may take up to three months for your body’s cell regeneration process to fully initialize and yield results. Many patients, too, may benefit from multiple treatments over time.

In cases where three to four treatments are performed, results from a PRP facial generally last anywhere between 18-24 months. Depending on the area treated, patients report diminished discoloration and increased radiance in the skin around the eyes and face. This leads to the appearance of being more energized and alert.

How to Get PRP Facials in Minneapolis

Patients also report diminishing of lines and wrinkles in the treated areas. The skin itself will also usually appear healthier, expressing more vibrant color and comprehensive youthfulness. That is, PRP Facials don’t address each wrinkle and line individually–they improve the overall tightness, firmness, and health of the skin throughout the face.
