Two New PRP Options

Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic is happy to introduce two brand new PRP options, now available at all three of our Twin Cities locations. PRP, short for platelet rich plasma, is a relatively novel treatment, introduced in the early 2010s. Since then, PRP injections have proven to be a popular and effective option for treating a variety of conditions.

Now Offering Two New PRP Options

At Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic, we currently offer PRP injections for two primary purposes: facials and hair growth. PRP Facials are typically deployed in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures, such as SkinPen treatments. On the other hand, PRP is used as a standalone treatment in men and women suffering from hairloss.

PRP injections may yet be novel, but they are effectively used to combat two significant signs of aging. If you want to know more about what PRP can do for your condition, contact our offices to schedule a confidential consultation with one of our specialists.

What is PRP and How Does it Work?

Whether you’re interested in PRP injections for hair regrowth or in a PRP facial, you might first want to know what PRP actually is and how it works. Essentially, PRP is a compound found in your own body that can be used cosmetically for restoration and rejuvenation purposes. To collect the PRP used in your treatment, a small amount of blood must be drawn.

The staff at Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic will then use a special centrifuge to separate your blood cells from the PRP cells. The donor PRP cells collected via this centrifuge are then used in your treatment. When used in conjunction with Microneedling (Skinpen), the PRP is applied topically, directly into the micro channels created by the Skinpen device. PRP treatments for hair involve topical injections.

This treatment method has several advantages:

  • Because the PRP is drawn from your own body, there is virtually no risk of any kind of allergic reaction
  • PRP injections of this sort contain a significant amount of restorative power, increasing the speed of healing (making it a popular compliment to microneedling and SkinPen procedures)
  • PRP injections of this sort take advantage of natural compounds, such as collagen, within your own body; the process involved in collecting donor PRP simply concentrates those healing enzymes.

PRP injections offer patients a natural and convenient way to address several different signs of aging that can develop over the years. Whether you’re looking for a way to minimize lines and wrinkles or help you regrow some hair, PRP injections might be able to help.

Is PRP the Same as a Vampire Facial?

One of the two new PRP treatments offered by Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic is called a PRP Facial. This treatment is essentially the same as so-called Vampire Facial that received a fair amount of attention several years ago.

Technically, there’s no difference between a Vampire Facelift and a PRP Facial. They are the same procedure. The Vampire Facial moniker was simply a successful way to differentiate PRP injections and generate marketing buzz.

Photos seen on TV or online often depict a bloody or gory image of treatment. In fact, platelet-rich-plasma is not bloody at all. PRP is a light yellow liquid that we call “liquid gold.” The bloody portion of a treatment would come from the needle pokes, not the PRP itself.

PRP Treatments Offered by Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic

At Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic, we offer two platelet-rich-plasma treatments. Which treatment is best for you will depend on the specific issues you’re attempting to address.

PRP Facial

Patients interested in PRP Facials are typically looking to address shallow to moderate lines and wrinkles that manifest around the face. In order to accomplish this, PRP injections are usually used as a compliment to SkinPen treatments.

SkinPen functions to activate the body’s healing response, leveraging that response to rejuvenate the skin instead. Lines and wrinkles are diminished. The skin’s overall appearance improves, showcasing more radiance and vitality. PRP injections administered at this point are designed to supercharge the body’s healing powers already activated by SkinPen.

When combined with SkinPen, PRP can help patients achieve a much more youthful overall look, combating significant signs of aging by minimizing lines, wrinkles, and age spots while improving the overall color of the skin.

PRP for Hair Loss

Both men and women can experience significant hair loss as they age. PRP for hair loss treatments are generally performed by injecting the PRP superficially into the scalp. The same healing compounds that encourage rejuvenation in the face work on the scalp to restore vitality in the hair roots.

After several PRP treatments, patients can expect to see noticeable hair regrowth in the treated area. This treatment is an excellent option for patients who are averse to more invasive hair regrowth options. For most patients, PRP for hair loss treatments offer a relatively quick and convenient way to start the hair regrowth process and minimize further hairloss.

Novel Procedures

Though they were introduced several years ago, PRP injections are still a relatively new procedure, and innovative applications are regularly discovered. At Minneapolis Anti-Aging and Skin Clinic, we pride ourselves on providing the best possible treatment options for all our patients.
